Year of Projects 2026-2027: Weeks 13-14 (?)

We took another trip to Colorado last weekend so I missed my weekly update, but here’s what I worked on to close out September and kick-off October.

Fiddlesticks Socks: I finished these up just before we headed north. Yarn is The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Rocky Mountain Purls, which is a BFL/nylon 2-ply sock yarn. Colorway is “Coneflower”. The cuffs and toes look really dark in the above photo, but they are a very deep aubergine purple. The pattern is an easy slip-stitch designed to break up pooling but to be honest, the yarn didn’t have much of that. These are very warm and I love how the yarn knit up.

Stick Season Hat: I also started and finished this DK-weight hat on our trip, which will go to a coworker as a gift. The pattern is from The Creabea and is a companion pattern to her Stick Season sweater. I used a merino DK from The Camel’s Yarn for this and thought it came out quite soft and squishy.

Supernova: This is the third medallion finished up and definitely my favorite so far. Those pink and purple shells and the seahorse are so fun! I have all the component pieces from month 3 of this block of the month quilt done, so I’ll start month 4 this month. (And I am very behind on this but definitely just enjoying the process. I have months 4-6 sitting on my work table to do but all in good time.)

Moonlight Meadow: I’m knitting this pattern up in a very different look from the original which used a Lopi-like rustic yarn. My version is a gradient and I’m using SW merino DK from Green Letter Day and Moonglow Fiber Co for mine. I have one more band of the darkest color and then the ribbing to finish the body.

A Long Winter’s Nap: Yep, this one is out again and I’m currently working on the several thousand black stitches next. Trying to do about 425 stitches a week and see if I can get this to the final 25% by July of 2027, and then get it finished up. Currently sitting at about 52%.

Denim and Lace: Last but not least I’ve started a new small quilt. This is a kit meant to look like a scrappy project. It’s all blue stars against the off-white background. There are 12 stars in total, and here’s the first one done.

That’s it for me this week YOP’ers. I’ve got a new pair of socks to cast on for Socktober and enjoying some cooler temps here that actually feel like fall!

  1. Fiddlesticks socks look great. I like the texture and the yarn colorway. Supernova seems to be a wonderful way to show off the fabrics. Wow, I thought my Daft Day Cardigan took a long time but Long Winter’s Nap is a long project. It looks great.
