My favorite time of year is here! The leaves are finally turning and there’s a cold crisp feeling to the air in the mornings. Our fall/winter flocks of mountain chickadees and dark-eyed juncos are back at the feeders. Time for all the crafty things!

Denim and Lace Quilt: I’ve sewn another block for the Denim and Lace. These aren’t attached to each other yet. I plan to make all of the blocks and then lay them out to make sure I like how they look together. Taking a photo and converting it to black and white definitely helps with the layout of the stars for each block to get them balanced, so I’ll probably use that trick when I get ready to put them all together. Not really rushing along on this but if I get a block assembled a week, I should be able to have the top all put together and ready for quilting by the end of the year.

Moonlight Meadow: The colors in this sweater are hard to photograph – they really change based on the light but this is a fairly close approximation of real life. I have the body finished and I’m starting on the sleeves. I wound up adding a full repeat to the body as it was another one that was going to be more cropped than I’d like. This is in DK-weight colors from Green Letter Day for the most part (contrast colors are from Moonglow Fiber Company) and is a fast knit so this one should be done by the end of the month.

Flourish: These are my October socks. Pattern is from Helen Stewart and the yarn is Phyllis Sock from Hue Loco in the Red-Tailed Hawk colorway. I worried the colors would make the pattern hard to see but once the socks are on and the feather and fan pattern is stretched out a little bit, it actually looks really nice, so I’m forging on ahead. This is sock one, and the heel is turned so onward to the foot and toe.

Pontes: I’m knitting this shawl as part of a casual KAL with my friend, Jane. It’s a choose your own adventure kind of thing where we all picked the same starting color, but then Rachel over at ZeeZee Textiles has written a short story where you can pick 2 different middle options that lead to 2 different end options. I opted to go with the spooky graveyard option which is the next color in this subtle gradient. The pattern is just bands of garter and brioche in an elongated triangle shape so it’s an easy fun knit where the beautiful Silk Sock base is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
Hope you’re having a great week wherever you are YOP’ers!
