Year of Projects 2025-2026: Week 46

A mixed bag this week – I worked on several things, although nothing with much focused attention except for my 100-days Project (More on that below.)

Jane Austen Quilt: No pictures to show but I did prep the second leaf/vine border motifs and made a very small start on getting those stitched down. I should be able to get that sewn this week, however.

Oscar Sweater: I finished the body up to the underarms, so that’s on hold while I start the sleeves. This one has raglan sleeve/shoulder shaping but it’s knit from the bottom up so when the sleeves are knit, everything gets attached together at that point.

Extra Lite Bright: I have finished the first part of the shaping for the modified raglan shoulders, so I was able to join everything to continue working in the round. Since I’m using 3 colors for mine, I need to do a bit of math to figure out when I need to start incorporating the transition rows to the next color before I get too much farther along.

Supernova Quilt: I’ve been eagerly awaiting the first shipment of fabrics for this quilt. They are all Tula Pink and this will be my first big EPP project. I’ve already gone a bit off script. The pattern calls for the center seahorse to be surrounded by green seashells and striped fabric, but I put all that together and didn’t love it, so I ripped all that out, figured out that I had enough of the purple/blue section of seashells of that fabric, plus enough of a wave-patterned ombré to replace the stripes, and redid that. (Which I am much happier with!) I also got all of the pieces cut for the rest of the month’s assembly. This one is a BIG – 104 x 105” – so I think it’s a long timespan for all of the blocks, something like 18 months?

Star Hexagons/100-Day Project: A bit ahead of schedule, I have finished hand-sewing ALL of the hexagons for this table runner project! I have some dark blue fabric headed to me which I will use for the backing and as the half-hexagons to fill in those spaces to even out the edges. I haven’t sewn any of these together so this may not be the final layout, but good enough for now.

That’s it for me this week YOP’ers!

  1. I love the start to your supernova and that you are already making your own twists on it. I’ll look forward to watching your progress.

I started a La Passecaglia (sp?), that Tula based her Nova on, a few years ago when I was doing a lot more patchwork, but I set it aside as I got bored with my fabric. I’d chosen Laundry basket and I don’t think it was the wrong choice but I need some extra colours to add in to what I was using. I just didn’t settle on what, so it remains abandoned for now. But I have been thinking of picking another Millefiori pattern to start, as I have books 1-5.

  2. WOW, the supernova looks amazing already. I can’t imagine working on such a big project. Talk about persistence. Such a cute baby sweater and I of course love the color.

  3. Wow. Your start on your Supernova quilt is very cool. That is going to be fun to watch grow. Of course, I enjoy seeing everything else, too! I love that little sweater, and your Star Hexagon project impress me. Will you be hand-sewing the backs to all the hexagons?
