Year of Projects 2026-2027: Week 12

A few finishes this week to talk about first.

Jane Austen 250th Anniversary Quilt: This is now completely done and in fact, I have it on the guest bedroom bed. I love how it came out and even more so that it’s actually finished. This one took just a bit over a year from start to finish. Pattern and reproduction fabrics are all from Riley Blake Designs.

Apple Orchard: This little small cross-stitch piece is from Blackbird Designs. It is part of a larger collection called Anniversaries of the Heart. I had waffled about maybe stitching all of these smaller designs as one big piece for a while but ultimately decided to do them as individual smalls for my seasonal display. I used 2 strands of hand-dyed floss over 2 linen threads and I think it came out super cute – perfect for the season. It’s back with a red and tan check fabric.

Antipodes: Also finished! Design is from Andrea Mowry. Yarn is Confluence from Farmer’s Daughter Fibers in color “Val” and Dyed in the Woold Spincycle in “Slow Burn”. Interesting construction and colorwork made this a very fun knit. I added an extra repeat and a half of colorwork and a few extra rounds of plain main color before the hem. It’s still slightly cropped but not the super cropped length written in the pattern. It’s a comfortable, lightweight piece I hope to wear a lot this fall.

Additionally this week, I finished up row 2 of my Sleepy Hollow blanket blocks. I’m using a basic circle-in-square pattern and Green Letter Day merino DK for the yarn.

I finished sock one of the Fiddlesticks Socks pair. I’m using Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Rocky Mountain Purls Sock in “Coneflower”. Planning to cast on sock #2 this week.

And last but not least, I added one more Birlinn block to my blue-green set for this blanket using sock yarn scraps.

Whew! Busy crafting week. Hope you all had a good one, YOP’ers!

  1. Oh My Goodness. The quilt is sooo beautiful. You need to move the bed to the living room!!! Your sweater looks fantastic. I also love the sock pattern. I really like a little texture with variegated yarns.

  2. Wow what a lot you have achieved, can’t believe you already finished the jumper. My phone screen isn’t doing justice for the finished quilt so I will look on my PC when I am back home to admire it better. The little orchard xs is so sweet. We went to a walled garden and there was a sign saying don’t pick the apples but they were falling from the tree and rolling to our feet, we resisted picking them up but suspect the wasps will get them as just so many in there. Apples just bring the autumn 🍂 vibes, love it.
