Year of Projects 2025-2026 Wrap-Up

Year 15 of the Year of Projects was a wild one. Lots of changes in life things, some of which meant I didn’t get as much done on my craft list as I wanted to. However, I will count it a win as I finished up several WIPs and started (and sometimes finished) several quilt projects, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

If you’d like a recap of what I planned to accomplish, you can see the original planning post for year 15 here.

Knitting/Crocheting:
1. Asterie Sweater: Finished!
2. Painted Plains Wrap: Finished!
3. Sailing School Socks: Finished!
4. Bloom Your Heart Out Shawl: Finished!
5. Earth, Wind & Fire Shawl: Frogged and will repurpose the yarn
6. Geode Blanket: Finished! (Although I opted to use a different pattern – but I used up the yarn that was earmarked for this project.)
7. Birlinn Blanket (in sockweight yarn) No progress – will this be the year I get back to this one?
8. Mini Bean Stitch Blanket: Frogged and will repurpose the yarn.

Spinning: If I can spin 4 oz a month as an average, that would go a long way towards working down the fiber. This was a fail. I spun up 2 braids for last year’s Tour de Fleece and haven’t spun since. I’m not setting any goal beyond spinning something for year 16.

Sewing/Cross-Stitch:

1. Aviary Quilt (started and about 35% finished) No progress.
2. Winter Quilt (not started but I have supplies) No progress.
3. Autumn Garden Cross-Stitch: Finished!
4. Holiday full-coverage Cross-Stitch (this is a bigger project and probably not one I can finish this year but I’d like to get back to it and make some progress on it). Progress but only a bit.

I also have a couple of garments I’d like to get sewn this year, once I get my machine back and operational. Success – I sewed a new pinafore and a pair of pants.

There were other add-on projects to this list, but it’s nice to see I managed to work through most of the in-progress things and not start too many other things as the year went on so I’m about in the same place as last year for WIPs heading into July.

For a list of what I’ve got planned for 2026-2027, you can check that out here.

  1. Seems you did fairly well. Life happens. Desire varies. Looks like a good plan for Year 16!
