Year of Projects 2025-2026: Week 36

This week was mostly 2 steps forward, 1 (or more steps) back for crafty things. Let’s get into it.

Day 15 of The 100 Days Project: Here are my hexistars. Delighted that I’ve been able to keep up with these. I think 125 or so will make a nice-sized table runner so I may do that when I hit that mark. I doubt I’ve got a full-sized quilt of hand-pieced hexis in me but a table runner in these blue scraps would be lovely. (I am quite enamored of that striped one on the far right.)

Granny Chevron Stripe Blanket: I finished the final color stripe repeat and did a little YouTube searching to figure out how to square off the zigzag ends, and got that done. I’m working just a basic double-crochet (US term) border now. Although in looking at the photo of it all laid out, I may need to back up and take out some of the stitches to stop that lower edge from curling up. I will sleep on it but likely will go that route. I know it will bother me if I don’t.

Lotte Pants: This is a new project but a goal of mine for the year was to sew up some work-friendly garments and I decided to start with this pair of pants. I’m using a stretch cotton sateen with bugs and butterflies on it. This black/neutral print is something I’d wear with a lot of things in my closet. I really liked the pattern photos but I am having to make a lot of adjustments to get these the way I like pants to fit. There was a lot of extra fabric in the legs and I’ve done a fair amount of basting and try-ones but I think I’m in the home stretch and can finish these up this week.

Graerup Slipover: Last week I showed this one with the back done, but it looked really short. REALLY short so I had a try-on of that and it is REALLY REALLY short. (Which never ever happens on me. It is supposed to be cropped but it doesn’t even cover the waistband of my pants and I wouldn’t ever wear it that way.) So…. I am going to frog the back down to where the front/back are divided for sleeve openings, and knit a good 3 or more inches of body length and then start the armhole shaping. And, since I’ve now tried this on, the armhole shaping is deeper than I would like, so I will do less decreases the next time I work those. (No picture. It is in time out right now while I am mentally preparing myself to undo all that knitting.)

That’s it for me this week, YOP’ers! Have a good one.

  1. Wow. How frustrating but you will like the vest better once it is knit to your liking. Your blanket looks great.

  2. Ugh. I hope your Graerup learns its lesson while in timeout.

I love the striped hexi too!

  3. Your hexistars look great! And oooh… I like that striped one too! That’s a nice finish on the Granny Chevron Striped blanket. And those pants are pretty cute. I almost bought some ponte fabric this week to make some pants. Maybe I’ll go back to the store and get it… If you are ever open to sharing your source for garment fabric, I’m all ears/eyes. I have no good local sources for that, and I haven’t yet delved into checking out what’s online. It seems daunting to me to purchase garment fabric not being able to see and feel it. If you have any thoughts on the subject, I’d be interested in reading.

    1. Thank you! I have a few places I get garment fabrics from: Mood in NYC (and FWIW, you can get samples from them. I think they are 4×4? Big enough to be able to feel the drape and weight.) I also really like Kokka Fabrics or Material Goods for interesting wovens or prints.

  4. it will make a gorgeous decoration for your table. I agree the stripped star looks fabulous and maybe another on the left side would be good. It really shows how they’ve been put together. Sorry about the top, but no point continuing with a project that’s not right as it won’t get worn.

    1. I have been enjoying seeing how the fabric looks when it’s assembled into the stars – it really changes how it looks even after it’s been cut into the little diamonds.

The Hexistars and blanket are gorgeous. When you can face it, I’m sure the slipover will be lovely when tailored to your needs.

    1. Thank you! I just finished up a blanket this week so I’m trying to decide if I want to get back to the slipover or tackle another WIP right now!
