This week kind of went sideways on me. Several unexpected health things for my husband meant an ER visit and lots of time trying to juggle work and normal errands and sick husband errands. All that to say, this will be a short, somewhat random post this week.
One of my goals for February (which is now in the final week already!) was to get through another full repeat of the color stripes in my granny chevron blanket. So I worked on that a bit this week. I think I have enough yarn left for this third color stripes in repeat and then one more (maybe?? A fifth but I will have to weigh my yarn and see), and then I’ve got some gray I’m going to use for the border/edging.

I can’t remember if I posted about the first 3 blocks for the Riley Blake 2026 Block Challenge or not. If not, this is a sampler quilt where each block is different. I have the first 3 done and I pieced the 4th one today. I’m using Riley Blake Designs Cotton Solids for this in the called-for colors. It will work up into a square lap-sized quilt when it’s done.

In addition, I finished up the January block of the month appliqué blocks for the Jane Austen 250th anniversary quilt. (Just in time too, as the February block materials arrived Saturday.) Adding these to the growing stack of blocks to assemble. There are 3 more sets of these square floral-type appliqué blocks to go (so 12 more blocks total) and then the borders will be next which are a combination of appliqué and pieced strips.

Finally, the 100-day project started today. I decided I am going to work on my languishing hand-pieced hexi-stars which I’m doing in blues and whites. You may remember these from a while ago (or not). I have 23 already finished up, and my plan is to try to get one a day pieced. Each one takes about 45 minutes, start to finish, and I prepped the first 10 sets, and then stitched day one’s block up while sitting with my tea this morning. Hoping to keep myself motives to continue along on these. My plan is for a throw-sized quilt eventually, which will probably be somewhere around 250 (ish?) hexis.

Have a great week YOP’ers!
