We’re halfway through this year of projects. I will have a separate post in a day or two on how I’m doing with all of my proposed projects for the 52-week period. (Spoiler alert: Actually pretty good.) Here’s what I worked on this week.
Book Club Cardigan: I have the back to the point where it’s time to pick up along the shoulder and work the right front. This is an interesting construction and not one I’ve done before with the sloped shoulder seams so it’ll be interesting to see how it looks on. The front V-neck is created with the addition of stitches along the front edge and they will be incorporated into moss stitch as they get added. The cables line up in kind of an odd way but they look okay in the finished images so I’m going to roll with it. (Several other knitters added a horizontal cable section along the seam which looks quite nice but I do not have the mental bandwidth for pattern adjustments like that right now, so on we go with “as written”.)

A Long Winter’s Nap: I have added around 1600 stitches to this one in the last 10 days or so, mostly in the upper section. (They are all in the same color which is a dark burgundy/red.) I decided I’d move to working this one with color completion as I did my previous full coverage piece. The outlining of the circular shape I did at my last update will help me be able to place stitches in space and I do like to be able to watch the counters for each color go down to zero as a motivator. This one will take a pause for a bit in early January so I can slot in a spinning project then.

Faded Stripes Shawl: More of the same. This one will be kind of boring for progress photos since it’s just 2 alternating stripes of garter stitch with increases, but I did pull it out to work on this week, so here it is.

I finished up the 2 fraternal twin quilt tops that will head off to the long-arm quilter this week. These are a non-holiday gift for 2 little girls who are sisters, so I made them very similar but not exactly the same in the block layout. Happy to have these done and in the home stretch to getting them completely finished.

Finally, I was super excited to have my snowman quilt back from the quilter as well. I sent that off for free-motion quilting rather than computerized edge-to-edge, and she did an amazing job. I’ve got the binding attached on the front so I need to attach it on the reverse and add some decorative buttons to fully finish it but it is SUPER cute. Here’s a preview!

That’s all for now YOP’ers! I hope you had a happy Xmas if you celebrate that and have a safe and happy New Year.
