Law of Fives Reading Challenge 2026

I was intrigued by the bingo board Nic of Dragon Rambles put together for 2026 and I’ve decided to join in for that in 2026.

Here’s my board for reference. I made a few changes to this from the original that was posted, but kept most of them pretty close (with a few personal challenges thrown in). As you might have guessed from the challenge name, these prompts are all sets of 5. Several of these will overlap with my HRCYED 2.0 challenge that’s ongoing into mid-2026, so that may help me get to some of those too.

Some of these will be harder for me than others. The “Start 5 series” prompt will take some thought but I do already have a “5 books in a series” penciled in.

I would love your suggestions for books you’ve read recently and would recommend that I could use for the “Suggested by friends” prompt. I know several of you out there have similar reading likes to mine, but I’m also always glad to have a recommendation for a good book of any genre/type.

I’m working on a list for a few options to start January off. Do you have any titles you’re excited to start at the turn of the year?

  1. Sounds like a fun challenge! I hope you enjoy it.

If you enjoy cozy mysteries, you might like Seams like Murder, a historical mystery by New Zealand author Tilly Wallace (and set in NZ, too).

      3. Very true! Just like collecting books and reading books are two separate hobbies. 😉

  2. Can I suggest one for the published in 1980s? Kane and Able by Jeffrey Archer is my favourite book, it came out in the UK in 1979 but was published in the US in February 1980 so would qualify. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is another one I loved.

    2. I would love that recommendation- and I’ll go look for it. I haven’t read Kane and Able (but I have read Dog in the Night and enjoyed it!) thank you!

  3. What a fun idea. I have just spent some time reading the posts about this idea and will be thinking about how I might borrow some of the prompts for my own intentional reading list. I read The Artist and the Feast a few months ago and it was really fascinating.

    1. I love dipping in and out of challenges. I appreciate how much they expand my reading, even if I don’t get to every prompt. I will look for that title. Just by the title alone I’d probably enjoy it!
