Year of Projects 2025-2026: Weeks 15 & 16

I missed last week’s post – I had a work event all day Saturday and then Sunday got away from me so you get a double dose this week.

Slow but forward progress on the second Dyad jacket. I’m a bit farther along than this photo and more than halfway done the body. I’m going to try to get the body finished up this week.

Also some forward progress on The Autumn Garden. I added in the squash and finished the vines along the front of the house, as well as started the maple tree leaves.

I finished block 8 of the snowman quilt and I’ve got 3 more to do. I’m actually thinking about making this into a table runner and not a lap quilt as I think I’d get more use out of it that way but I’m going to finish up all the blocks and then decide.

I’ve turned the heel on the striped cat socks and I’m working down the foot on sock one. I am going to be cutting it close on the stripes but I think I’ll have enough for 3 full repeats of the colors on each sock if my scale is correct.

Finally, speaking of table runners, I started this kit for the Leaf Pile table runner that uses fabrics from the Acorn Hollow line. I love these colors together and the fabric (which is also the backing) with the little woodland animals is my favorite.

That’s it for the last couple weeks to get me caught up! Have a great week YOP’ers.

  1. All great projects, but the sick definitely steals the show. Love the colours you have chosen. Are you going to stop part way and do the second sock, just to check on your calculations? Or did you divide everything in half before you started, so already know you are safe?

    1. I weighed the mini skeins so I think I’m okay – I’ve only used about a gram for each stripe so I should be able to get 6 stripes out of each mini…. Assuming my scale is accurate.

  2. The snow/snowman quilt blocks would make a really nice winter table runner. I also love the block style of the Leaf Pile table runner. Your Kitty Cat socks look great.

    1. I think the snowman would be nice in that layout too! I am leaning that way – I just have to figure out layout.

  3. So many lovely projects, Anne. I love the Autumn Garden cross stitch. And the two quilts/table runners are great. The Snowman one is so cute, and the colors in the Leaf Pile are gorgeous. And, oh my goodness… the colors in your striped cats sock are stunning!

  4. Everything looks great! I love the table runner projects. I have a round table (which makes table runners hard) but I’ve been thinking lately of making placemats.

    1. Thank you! Could you do a square one instead?

      1. Hmm, maybe! Though I’d most likely have to modify a pattern. All the ones I’ve seen that I’ve liked have been the traditional rectangular one. Then again, I do have a small side table that I could maybe make a rectangular table runner for, as long as it’s one of the smaller patterns.

  5. I love that leaf pile table runner! And I see that you are knitting with two circulars for your socks. I am exploring a new way to knit color work for socks. Magic loops isn’t feeling right.

    1. I really don’t enjoy magic loop altho I know a lot of people love it. I find the 2 circulars less fiddly than DPNs and with the flexible cable you can still do heel shaping easily. I knit all my socks with these – colorwork or other.

      And thank you!!
