Year of Projects 2025-2026: Week 14

This week I cast on for the second Dyad sweater. Not much to see yet – it’ll be a black blob for a while!

I also cast on a pair of colorwork striped socks for Socktober. These are the Kitty Cat socks and I’m using a sock set from Moonglow Yarn Co. I’ll be alternating the minis with the main color for the leg and foot stripes.

I finished up my husband’s Compass Cowl V2 and he’s very happy with it, pronouncing it “even softer” than V1. Pattern from TinCanKnits and yarn is Recollect Sport from The Farmer’s Daughter. I have oodles of leftover so I’ll definitely be using those as it is a lovely yarn to work with. This is a great beginner’s pattern for colorwork – no super long areas to strand the yarn and you could mix and match the motifs (I think a 2-color would look good as would a rainbow/scrappy version).

I have finished up the second installment for the Jane Austen 250th anniversary quilt, working thru 4 appliqué blocks for this month. The teardrop shaped leaves were super fiddly at the points but I think I figured out a process for them – which is good because I think there’s another 16? Of them to do!

Finally I made some progress on The Autumn Garden. The entire left hand side of the design is stitched so with the house done, I’m more than halfway! (This one still continues to be a challenge to photograph).

Have a great week YOP’ers!

  2. These are all awesome projects! I checked out what the kitty cat socks will look like when finished, and they are going to be awesome with alternating minis for the stripes. 😀 I tried applique once on a Halloween costume, and I’ve pretty much decided that any fiddley pointed bits on applique are not for me. I got it to turn out just fine, but it was a pain to work! I hope you have your technique for it worked out.

    1. It definitely was a learning curve but I think I’ve gotten it down. This was a new to me appliqué technique from Lori Holt using interfacing and I really like it.
