Dyad

I’ve finished up my sample knit for designer, Kate Oates, and her Dyad sweater pattern. I’ll actually be making a second one but let’s talk about this finish first!

Per Kate’s request, I knit this one in the 3rd size and used the shorter body option and the fold over cabled collar. This gives it a cropped bomber-jacket style feel. The double-thickness collar is super cushy, warm and dense. The pattern does not call for front closures so I left those off, but the fronts overlap by about 4 inches and you could easily add toggle closures or a couple of big buttons or a large pin if you wanted to hold this closed.

The pattern is worked in reverse stockinette with slipped stitches for the faux “seam” lines. It’s knit mostly in one piece with only minimal seaming up at the end, and raglan sleeve construction. The sleeves are worked inside out so you’ll be knitting those rather than purling in the round.

Kate sent me Magpie Fibers’ Quartet Worsted in the color Jolene, which is a dark forest green. It is a superwash merino so it’s nice and soft, and it shows off the stitches in the cabled collar really nicely.

I’ll be casting on a second sample version for Kate next. This one will use the longer body length instructions and the colorwork collar instead of the cables. Look for that shortly!

  1. Wow did that come out beautifully! You did an amazingly perfect knit!

I don’t normally like the purl side, but this is just so lovely, I might change my opinion!

    1. Thank you so much! I’m normally a knit side fan too but the purl shows off those seams so well!

  4. This is stunning! I’m still not 100% sold on the amount of slipped stitch “seams” in the pattern, but I do love the collar! You did a great job with this one.
