This was the final week of Tour de Fleece so most of my crafting time centered around my spinning. I finished up the Hedgehog Fibres handcarded Corriedale, merino, camel and silk batts with a sportweight 2-ply with 380 yards and 120 g. This really spun up more beautifully than I had imagined. I thought the Corriedale might be a bit rough but the other fibers helped soften it (and I spun it semi-woolen to keep some air in the finished yarn). No plans for this one but I really love it.

I didn’t quite get a final 4-oz braid finished but I did get the singles spun up of this mixed BFL braid from Funky Carolina in the colorway “Martha”. I’ll plan to ply this up this week and finish it (and will then have a TdF summary for you when that happens.)

Knitting progress continues on the 2 sweaters I’m working on – both are kind of in the “boring stage”, but I am trundling along on them. First up, I am still working on the body of Asterie. I’ve got one more set of body shaping decreases to do and about 6 of 9 inches completed before I start the ribbing. Yarn for this one is Woolberry’s non-superwash DK weight base and I absolutely love it. It takes the dye in a much more subtle fashion than superwash and it is so soft and springy!

And finally, progress on Dyad, which I’m knitting in a very dark forest green worsted weight yarn from Magpie Fibers. This one starts at the neckline with a provisional cast-on and is worked in reverse stockinette back and forth with raglan shaping for the sleeeves. Despite how odd this looks, I’ve got about 6 rows and then I’ll be ready to divide for the sleeves/body and work some further shaping.

Finally in news this weekend I got a call on Saturday that my sewing machine is fixed and ready for pick-up. I’m going to try to get to Santa Fe this week on a lunch break to pick it up. I’m ready to get back to sewing and I have a garment pattern picked out that I’ll share with you next week – and get you caught up on the 2 quilts I’d like to get done this year!
Have a great week YOP’ers!
