Year of Projects 2025-2026: Week 6

It’s been another super busy week, so not a ton of progress on anything. If you’d like the life update, you can read that after the project info!

I did manage to finish the body of Asterie and I’m excited to have this to wear (hopefully!) for the fall. Sleeves are left, but this week I’ll switch over to focus on Dyad and see if I can get the body of that closer to being done.

I also put in a few more stitches on my Autumn Garden cross-stitch. I’ve got the bare bones of the central house stitched, and I had to add one of the pumpkins, just to see how that looked.

I did get the first Aster blouse (short sleeve version) cut out and started but that’s on hold due to Life Things. (see below).

So short and sweet this week for projects!

In Life Things: My husband and I decided we would like to put our house on the market and look at downsizing a bit. He travels a ton for work, and it’s a lot to keep up with maintaining the house plus the acreage, and work full-time. We were working with an agent this spring and then my husband went out on work travel for literally 5 out of 6 weeks, and we kind of hit the pause button. (We also had a leak in the main drainpipe of our laundry area, so needed to have the plumbing fixed and then drywall repaired.) However, we decided to move forward so reached out to say “Hey, we’d like to kind of start the process”. Our agent actually had some buyers who had been looking for something in our neighborhood with our set-up (outbuildings and acreage and etc), so he asked if we could get the house ready for them to look at it IMMEDIATELY. Like in 2 days. And of course my husband was on travel for work last week. So…. I spent almost every waking hour doing a deep clean of the house, packing things away, scrubbing floors and baseboards, and all the things so they could do a walk-through on Thursday. They liked it well enough they asked for a second showing Friday.

And then we waited. And waited. Did our paperwork for the seller side of things. And waited. Sunday night, we were told they were working on a contract. And this morning it’s all fallen through apparently.

So the good news is we have the house tidied up and ready to actually go on the market Friday. But all of that heavy-duty cleaning also kicked off an RA flare – I got overly tired – so this week, I’m going to try to take it easy and do some more resting/quiet time. It was a LOT. Hopefully all of that work will pay off and it’s at least done now for the future. Please send lots of good real estate mojo our way for this weekend!

  1. How frustrating! You think you’re gonna get off easy, but then learn, nope, you gotta do the whole process. I am sending good mojo for a quick sale and a quick re-settle!!

    1. I mean… it’s never easy… but there are levels of annoyance from mildly irritating to inner circles of hell.

      1. Perhaps the trick is to not let ourselves get dragged into more than we actually sign up for!

Take care of you this week, there is always time for more later.

  2. Sending happy thoughts your way for both the move and healing! It’s so frustrating to get your hopes up like that for an ultra quick sale and then have it fall through. But hopefully it will work out to be a quick process anyway!

  3. Oh, wishing you lots of good luck. I can’t imagine getting my house and property ready to sell. Hoping my youngest stays in the area so we can just pass the house onto him. We could move to a smaller house but I hate the idea of giving up our living in the woods. Change is always so hard. Glad you and hubby are in agreement and can handle it together. I just love your Asterie sweater.

    1. Thank you for the luck – I’ll take it. Moving is such a huge stressful thing but we know we want to move back east at some point and this would be a nice intermediate step to less maintenance where we can be on the coast for longer periods of time. So I’m going to try to stay positive!

  4. House stuff is the WORST. As someone who moved recently and didn’t quite realize how much work it would be, needing to leave a lot to my parents after I came out here, I feel for you. Hopefully it works out soon!
Definitely take time to rest this week!

    1. It really is! I’ve moved a lot in my life (this would be move 26) but it never seems to get easier or the process less daunting!

  6. My fingers are crossed for you finding a buyer for your house and finding a new home you will love and will suit you for the simpler life maintaining it. All the positive vibes are heading across the pond. It’s funny with you started that jumper I thought why have they designed the yoke detail to be so narrow but each time I see it now it’s like it’s growing and really is pretty and much better balanced than I’d expected. I think I’d have frogged it too early in a panic.
